No! It's not a dumb question. It's not impossible to do but i dont think anyone has tried to install disk brakes to the stock axle. Some who
have converted their trucks to a 9" Ford axle have installed disk brake units to their assy's. If you want to throw enough money into it, it can be done. But maybe you need to ask yourself if it would be worth it to do this to an axle that basicly cant be upgraded. If you decide later to go with a 350 motor, you'll most likely want to get a better axle assy. Maybe somebody has some info on such a job.
Just about everyone has wondered if there was a disk swap for the rear brakes. You aren't the first to wonder about this and you wont be the last.
