I think I know the answer to this one, but I'll go ahead and throw this out there. My truck has the tendency to backfire. Mostly when cold, but always when stepping off the gas while accelerating in between gears. (As I shift) I've thrown in a fresh tune up (cap, rotor, plugs, wires, points) all gapped to spec, and adjusted the timing. I just threw a new head gasket on it a couple weeks ago, and checked the valves when the head was off. None burnt or bad. I am thinking my distributor is possibly toast or near toast. Anyone else got any ideas as to the backfire? How difficult is it to install an electronic distributor out of an '81 or newer truck? My truck is an '80 4x4 G180 w/4spd.
