I'm so close to getting this thing started. My question is what wire do I hook up to the small red wire of the MSD 6AL ignition box (I also have the Blaster coil and MSD distributor). In the directions it says the positive wire from the original coil. When I do this I don't get any power to the box. What am I doing wrong? Any help appreciated.

Those directions are a little confusing. If you are you are using a magnetic pickup, like the probillit distributor this is the correct way.

orange wire to positive on coil
black wire to negative on coil

small red to switched 12V source
heavy red to 12V
heavy black to ground
white is not used

I think that the reason it wont fire is because your ingition has no source of power. Try hooking it up like that, pull the No 1 spark plug wire off and stick your finger in the boot, crank it over, then after you get back on your feet and get the feeling back in your arm, plug the wire back in and it should start.

if that doesnt work let me know and we will try something else

Josh

Thanks for the response. I'm all hooked up like you described, I think my problem is the 12 volt input. Last night as I was thinking about it and looking at the electical diagram in the repair book, I saw that the ignition goes through a resistor that I had previously disconnected. (I thought the two resistors were only for the fuel pump which I'm not using). So I'm not getting any voltage to the small red wire of the ignition box. So when I get home later today I'm either going to reconnect the resistors or just bypass them altogeather. I'll let you know how it goes.

You should bypass the resistor the MSD needs all the juice you can give it. Use a ten guage wire and a good source for the 12V switch. Run another wire if you have to. It will be worth it not to have any problems from your ignition.

Where are a couple of good sources for 12v beside the battery positive?

I have a ford solenoid and there is a good source.
Ignition switch its self.
fuse box
Also removed my heater and used that entire circuit for my nitrous setup.
