Is the width of these the same as a stock Luv rear end? Direct bolt up?

2nd question- I have a turbo 350 transmission and a a 10 bolt 28 spline s10 rear end I just aquired. What is everyone using for drive shafts? Stock?

Yes the S-10 rear is a bolt in but I think a new driveshaft will have to be made.

Isn't The S10 Rear End A Hair, Maybe A Sliced Hair Wider. Still A Direct Bold In and It Looks and Works Great.

Yeah A 70-81 Camaro, Fire Bird, or Trans Am Drive Shaft Will Work, Make Sure Its A TH 350 Car For The Correct Length, TH 400 Are Slightly Longer, There For Slightly Shorter Drive Shaft. Also Most TA's & Fire Birds W/ Pontiac Engines Will Have Shorter Drive Shafts.

Also A Mid 70's Granada W/ 8.8 or 9" Works Well. You Will Have To Weld Leaf Spring Perches Seeing That They Are None. You Can Norm Buy A Set Of Perches For 20-30 Bucks.

Happy Hunting

Just in case I missed it.....could someone tell me what year model S-10 rear ends will work ?? My LUV is 4wd.....how will that complicate finding the correct differential ?? I've never swapped out a rear-end before, but the one in my LUV is toast.

I think almost everyone here will suggest the first years S-10 axle for the rear.
The 2WD rear axle.
The one in the truck I have has an Eaton style posi as an option.
If you were looking to get a Posi, I believe the later year S-10 Posi untis were GOV-LOCS and these units were not as strong as the Eaton types. Just something extra to consider!
Someone here will share the dimensions for the 2WD and the 4WD widths differences that I do not know...

Can someone here with knowledge about these axles elaborate if there were any metric or standard thread changes ever on these over the years that these were made?
Thanx!

Bite your tongue.

350 ci bored .20 over
Speed Pro Hyper. Pistons
Blueprinted cast crank
full rv cam
67 camel hump 72 cc heads
holley street dominator manifld
edelbrock 750 cfm carb
msd 6a

That had better perform bettter than stock or I'll pitch the entire project.
