I just recently bought a 77 Luv.
The person I got it from kept the battery, and told me that I would need to get a new top post battery for it (I hadn't even seen under the hood of the truck at this point). So I go and get a new battery, only to find out that it really needs a side post battery. Easy fix, just put top post connections on (which he supplied).
Ok, no prob., cleared hood fine, put a piece of rubber over top of battery just to make sure.
Drove it all week back and forth to work with no problems, until Friday when I had to stop suddenly and battery slid into the radiator core support and basically welded the pos terminal to the support.
Just about a minute passed by the time I got pulled over and opened the hood and pulled the battery away from the support (I was waiting for the weekend to buy a real battery hold down strap, I guess I was a day late).
Started right up and ran normal the rest of way to work, although noticed that the temp. guage was reading a little higher than normal.
It has not ran even remotely hot prior to that.
Checked to see if was charging ok, and it is.
My question is could I have done damage to the temp guage?
I had just filled up the gas tank so guage was already reading full, and I can't tell what the effect (if any) there was to that guage.
Maybe someone has experienced this for themselves and can help me on this. Any response (hopefully positive) would be appreciated.
Sorry post so long, I try to include most of the details
