I was out and about today and saw this truck parked in front of this garage:

I went and knocked on the door of house, and talked to the owner of the truck.
It's got a 4.3v-6 in it. The frame was extended 6". He did almost all of the work on it himself.
He also said that he has built several v-8 LUVs in the past. He seems like a real cool guy.
Of course, I had to tell him about this site, so hopefully he will join and post some more information.
He plans on redoing some of the body lines and a repaint in about a month or so.

Steve

it would realy be cool if he fabed up the extended part and sold them as bolt on. like after you cut the back of the existing cab and just use weather stripping to seal the two together???? little far off but cool. awesome truck by the way

OMG, That is one of the best looking LUV's I have seen. I sure hope he visits us here and shares more pics and info about it.

Looks nice.

It would be cool to do that on a long bed frame, so you still could have a regular short bed on there.

Although the super short bed seems to be the new thing now days.

A lot of the trucks I see are partially finished, and you can see the progress they have made. This is done and looks great. I know you said he's going to do something else later. That extender cab is something I've been wanting to do. I'm not that big, and the cab is a little too small. I only need another four or five inches. My seats would fit better.

Nah a Rodeo is any KB from 81 (that shape) on 2x4 or 4x4 single cab, dual cab or space cab. The later shape TF is called the Rodeo and now the new shaped RA is the Rodeo as well.

The Rodeo wagon you got was called a Frontera here as was the Amigo before it but we only got a crappy little opel motor in ours.

The fender badge says, Isuzu KB.
I like the visor, its got that grandpa look
Its not actually a Luv, its an Isuzu. They were sold here thru Holden General Motors and i think that the 76 model was the last Chev badged one. Mines a 79. They never had the G180Z in them only the G161Z (and C190) and i dont even think you could get a 5 speed. Ive got the option of grabbing a SWB 4x4 off a guy at work its comes with a LWB 2x4 for spares, both are diesel.

They were sold up against the Holden ute which was bigger and had an inline 6cyl or V8.

Heres the HQ released in 72
Image
This is the HJ it was 76

The sold the Holden utes thru till 84 with minor upgrades on the front. Up till 1980 it was directly related to the family Sedans and wagons which shared the doors and front tin. After 80 it was just the ute and the larger than sedan Statesman luxury car. The ute, station wagon, and Pannel van were all built on the same wheel base, 2" longer than the sedan and coupe.
After 84 they had no local ute and the Rodeo pickup was it.

Sorry bout the useless info rant.

Cheers. Bob.

The Isuzu ones????

Nah not really most blokes want the Chevvy ones coz chevs are fully sic.

Do you want a pair??? i should be able to hunt some up in my travels.
Mine is staying Isuzu coz thats whats on the tailgate.

Its like the Chev bowtie badge for the grilles, every second late model Commodore over here has em. Just cos its got a Gen III motor. I dont even get why, a real Pontiac would have a Pontiac motor wouldnt it???

Bob.
