What kind of boat is that Chavy? Free is a good thing.

But the others are right about towing it behind your Luv. I'm a big rig driver and have a lot of experience pulling a lot of weight. Stoping could be dangerous. Don't follow too close and watch for brake lights 5 or 10 cars up so you can start slowing before it becomes a panic stop.

There are different kinds of trailer brakes. Boat trailers usually have surge brakes which is drum or disc on the axle, hydraulically operated by a master cylinder on the tongue. When the truck is slowing, the weight of the trailer pushing forward on the hitch, applies the trailer brakes. This kind of set up will work on any vehicle towing it.


Electric brakes found on most travel trailers require some specially installed equipment on the towing vehicle.

I suggest you take the boat to a public scale and find out what it weighs, (boat trailer engine) and check what the owners manual in your Luv says. If you don't have one I'm sure someone here could help with that.

if i remeber corectly a LUV is only rated to tow 1500lbs.
