I have never seen the VIN on the frame. Some early models have it stamped on the body near the right wiper arm just below the cowl and where the hood meets the body. The VIN plate is pop riveted on the drivers side door jam and a sticker is on the drivers door.

I found this from 800xl with the SEARCH button

There is also a stamping of the last few digits under the cowl panel (louvered chunk of sheetmetal between the rear edge of the hood and the windshield) and I have heard that it can be found on the frame right near the fuel tank. The one under the cowl is stamped into the sheetmetal of the cab. I have never had a reason to look for the one on the frame, but I've read a couple of posts here that mention it might be there.

The only other thing I've seen is a painted stencil of part of the vin on the outer side of the frame rail on the passenger side of the truck. It is usually completely illegible though, if not painted over completely. I assume some of the numbers on the block of the engine can be connected to the VIN, but I have not found the VIN number itself anywhere on the motor.

why do you need to find the vin numbers? I know it's stamped on there in quite a few places but I can't tell you exactly where. I could show you every single one on a honda, but I guess that doesn't help....

The normal place for the VIN is on the door pillar on a metal tag. Should be plainly visible when you open the driver's side door. If the doors are original it is on a sticker with the GVWR info too. My old post was more about the exotic places you might find it if you had to. I didn't think about the hood, in fact I didn't think the VIN was on those stickers, just some engine family number or something.
