Just wandering if anybody has dabbled in the realm of traction bars for any street/strip vehicle. I found universal bolt on traction bars produced by Lakewood Ind. They're only $4o. Just wandering if anybody could tell me if it would be worth it.

The lakewoods will be better than nothing, but you probably won't get much out of them. I tried a few styles before I made my own. I'd never run those universal ones again. It's kinda hard to see in the picture, but mine are welded to the bottom spring plate.

Mike uses some like mine also (that he made himself as well) and he's going much faster than I am, pulling the front tires off the line.

i made mine also. 2x3 tubing. welded them to the spring/shock mount and they run up past the front spring mount. no problem with them so far. running 10.6 @ 126mph

well I put a set of lakewoods on my luv, but also went to a 295/50 tire about the same time, so I don't know if its the wheel or the tire but it definently helped hook up a little better. I would say at the least your not gonna loose traction. My.02 :D

lakewoods are made from thin metal and they tend to flex. They are also a little bit too short for my taste. the rubber snubber should be way more forward like under the leaf spring eye. I suppose they are better than nothing. I would make my own... or better yet, spend the $$$ on some cal tracs or slide a links. if the truck spends most of its time on the strip, toss the rubber snubber and put a bolt in place of it. it launches a lot better and makes a nice little BANG!! that will leave you wondering if you broke something. lol.

BTW There are plenty of cars around that are deep in the 8's on a slapper bar.
