We had a recent thread about this. The general gist of the discussion was that the 4x4 trans will not come out without pulling the motor or at least moving it forward. My personal belief is that it can be done without touching the motor with a lot of twisting and patience, but the only 4x4 trans I've pulled was in a truck with 2 inches of body lift. Maybe someday I'll pull the trans in my current truck (unlifted) just to prove a point, but for now I'll have to defer to popular opinion and say it can't be done.
One way you could get the extra space needed is to unbolt the cab mounts. (two behind the seat and one on each side in the floorboard under where your feet sit) That would let you lift the rear of the cab up a couple inches and get more space to wiggle. That would probably be more straightforward than pulling the motor, less wires/hoses to worry about getting back on right.
