Took a better pic of the bed. I got the rest of it down at the top after this was taken...
Image
Before I started tearing into the side...
Image
This probably looks really funny, but I did it on the other side and it worked well to tell me where the high/ low spots were. I Used a wide flathead that has a sharp point and a hammer and worked diagnal downward chipping the filler away to find the fossils underneath...
Image
A couple of the bigger pieces I pulled off the bedside...
Image
Image
Image
Showing the areas that came off really easy...
Image
Image
Yum...
Image
Most of the bed down. It will be finished next time I work on it...
Image
Image
I decided to go with a wire wheel instead of a sanding disk on this side. It takes about the same amount of time to get it down and I dont have to come back and smooth it out afterwards...
Image
Image
Image
The filler for the blinker on the back corner of the bed...

man, the work that was done to that thing looks like work that pee_roy does. he did his gas door like yours. but he didnt even weld it. just put a piece of metal in the hole and slathered on the bondo. it cracked the next day. he did the same thing with the hood too. pop rivets and TONS of bondo.

Some pople just don't know what they are doing.
Tearing out peoples crap they did takes twice as long. But I'm getting there. The truck is a little over halfway down. I have to get the rest of the passenger side done, the inside of the bed, and the rest of the inside of the cab.

you should save all the bondo and see what it weighs....
I bet that truck is 500#s lighter when you get finished.

I posted a few, but I hate the message board. Too many people with bad attitudes, so I stick to the member profiles and mag.

Time for an update FINALLY!!!
The dust pile from the passenger door, a little strip on the bed, some of the cab behind the door, and some of the fender...
Image
Bed is done minus the small area above the body line...
Image
Showing the door and fender...
Image
Image
Put one of the spare 275/35/18 tires next to the bed to show how much room I don't have...
Image
Image
Showing that the back of the cab lays...
Image
And the front does not. Until I raise the transmission crossmember...
Image
Side shot. You can see some of the lumps and bumps in the metal...

Yes the bags mounted to the factory control arms. I'll most likely be building some sometime in the future when I go with larger wheels. I'll get to the suspension breakdown in a month or so.

Right now it is sitting until I get my blazer sold and do a few more things to my car to make it easier to drive daily.
I'm not sure what motor I'm going to go with, that part is pretty far down the road. I'm going to do alot more to the truck then I planned at first, so it will be easier to do all of it without the motor.

My god! Does that guy have a parts store or did he get all that bondo at a yard sale? It would have been interesting to weigh the truck before you started and after your finished.

I have filled up my huge trash can too many times to count with junk out of this piece of crap. I'm finally going to get back to work on it pretty soon. I have been working on the car and alot of other peoples rides lately so I have had no time for the truck. I'll post some pics soon hopefully.
