Anyone know what the wire is/does that comes off the top of the injector pump? I am not getting fuel to the pump, but am getting fuel to the fuel filter.
The wire was extremely bad shape, the outside sheathing was gone and copper was corroded. I have taped up the wire hoping that it would do the trick, but looks like the wire got extreme heat.???

Any ideas on why the engine is not getting fuel is appreciated.

that wire goes to your selinoid valve that opens and closes the selinoid, you should be able to cut the wires on both sides of the connection (go past the bad part on the damaged side of the connection) and put a male-female connection in it's place that'll get ya goin'

anymore problems just ask...

This wire is connected to the fuel solenoid, as Finalman said. When you turn your key to on, this is energized, the valve opens and allows fuel to flow inside the pump, and vise-versa. This solenoid replaces the lever that you would have on a tractor to shut it down with.

Hey you guys--

If repairing the wire does not work consider the following:

--- The cooked wire may indicate that too much current has passed thru it.
This could be because somehow the terminal on the solenoid got itself
temporarily grounded. Or because the solenoid itself is shorted. You
can check the solenoid out with an ohmmeter. Normal resistance is
about 8 ohms.

If too much current has passed thru the wire you can figure that a
fuse is blown somewhere. Take a look at the fuses in the box under
the hood, left side.

--- If the solenoid and fuses check out OK, I suggest removing the wire
from the terminal and then touching it back with the key on. You
should be able to hear a click from the solenoid and get a small spark.
If you do then the solenoid is probably OK. If you get no spark you
have no power to the solenoid wire, even if the fuses are good.
You will need to trace the wire back to its source to find the reason
for it to not deliver current to the solenoid.

--- If the solenoid is working OK, and the truck still will not start, you
probably have a fuel starvation problem elsewhere.

Paul

Here is a photo of the solenoid for those who haven't seen one:

Nice to see you fixed your problem. Those solenoids are quite reliable, but can fail like anything else. :)
