Ok....i got my new fuel pump cause the stocker doesn't keep up w/ my Weber.

got the holley red......how do i set the relef valve? Do i even need too?

i suspect the big screw plug covers the relef valve but i can't get it to open.

the pump specs are; 97 gph free flow,78 gph at 4 psi, 7psi max.

I had a weber on mine before I did my v8 swap, and never had any trouble.

I just bought and installed a new Holley 'Blue' on my truck. I was just replacing an older one. I already had a regulator installed by the carb. But the pump came with a new regulator and a small book of instructions on how/what/where/why to do all that. Did you get it new, with instructions? It should all be in there.
Jegs has all sort of fuel pumps, the red is about 100 bucks in the catalog.

i got the holley in today.....YEAH!!!! it got rid of all the top end-full throttle missing that i had. this makes fifth gear useable now.

the red is made for low pressure performance carbs... it doesn't need a regulator with the Weber.

i fired up the pump without it being hooked up to the carb and it shot a 10ft long 5/16ths jet of fuel. 8)

I have a saftey question though..... i mounted this thing in the engine compartment.... is this a bad idea? it is hooked up through the relays properly so it doesn't run unless the engine's running or i'm trying to start it.

According to the instructions with the 'Blue' I just put in mine as well as everything I have ever seen, it can NOT be mounted in the engine compartment. Two reasons; one fuel supply, they are supposed to be mounted as close to the fuel source as possible. two, safety. I have fuel cells mounted in the back of the truck, so I have mounted the pump underneath the tanks. With the stock fuel tank, that might be a little harder to do, but I would definately move it out of the engine bay.

that's the critter.... do your self a favor and don't mount it anywhere near the body.... i have mine insulated and sheilded under the hood and it's still noisy as hell.

see if you can get it mounted somewhere near the stock location... WARNING..... you'll need a drill

it has more to do with the chevy luv's body acoustics than anything else....

the new carpet i scored will probably help that quite a bit.
