Forced idle?? If ok at higher RPM I think the electrical is OK. But check voltage on battery. getting good charge.
Is that like you have to keep feathering the gas pedal toi keep it running
If you let off it will die?
Could be the idle jet in the carb. This is what feeds the gas during idle and up from that before the main fuel jet get drawn into the circut.
What your running off is the accelerator pump on the carb. This is the part that squirts gasin the carbs(well it should).
I have a weber DGV on my 521 truck and it get full of rust every now and then. I pull out the idle jet which mine is a brass screw and clean out the jet. Also open up the fuel filter to see if its full of crap. I know run 2 filters before going into carb.
For the ignition you can convert to a Pertronix conversion. You can use tour stock coil and basslast resistor. I have 3 of these and like them.
Have to fit single point distributors.

As the person mention above if the electrical to the idle cutoff works it can still be plugged. You have to remove it and ck to see if plugged.
Electracally you can just turn the key to on and the siliniod should ck(remove it from carb)
