Got a good deal lined up on a used Detroit EZ locker thatll save me $100. But at the same time I m thinking at $350 I could spend that $100 more for a brand new Auburn limited slip. What exactly are the differences? Maybe some good knowledge could help my decision.

Well first of all...... what kind of rearend are we talking? If I'm reading this right this guy wants $250 for a used locked? I paid $242 from 4wheelparts for a detroit qwik lock for a D44 on my cherokee. Second..... these kinda lockers a considered "lunchbox lockers" because they install into the stock carrier and do not require gear setup. You can install these at home without special tools. Third...... the auburn limited slip is its own carrier witch does require a gear setup. Not real cheap to have done unless you do it at home and really know what you are doing and have the required tools. Fourth...... I personally think the Auburn suck. They have clutches that will eventually wear out and cost more money.

detroit truetrac could be a good option. it's a decent limited slip, uses gears instead of clutch packs. unless you want to go to a full locker, get a full carrier replacement detroit. won't be fun on the street though!

Is burning off one tire fun or something? I don't get it. I run a detroit locker in the 9 inch in my S10 and is driven daily on the street. No problems what so ever. I also have a detroit quik lock in the D44 in my cherokee whitch is also driven daily on the street. Only thing possible I can think of that would't be a good idea is a spool. More likely to break an axle running it on the street.

I had a Trans Am that had an Aburn limited slip that would roast the s... out of both tires. A co-worker told me about a cheap locker that I need to check out. Doubt they have one for an 8" though. Not a very common rear for you wheelin guys.

lockrite is an automatic lunchbox locker, which means you just have to replace the spider gears with the locker guts

LUVs did not come with a limited slip stock ever, but the same rear was used in Isuzu Impulses. The turbo Lotus tuned Impulses did come with a Powerbrute limited slip that will fit the LUV rear end. Good luck finding one though.
