I just got finished tacking in the coilover mounts and figured I would take some pics!

Don't they offer those coil-overs with the post mount on top to use the hole that that's already there?

Man that is awesome! At the bottom of the coilover is that just the shock mount that u have used? Did you just fab the top mount up yourself? Do you know what part # is for the coilover? I really like to put that setup on mine and get rid of the torsion bars

im pretty sure that they do offer the post or stud mount, but the coil wouldn't clear in the back. you can see in the "shockmount" pic how much further out from the original mount I had to bring it to clear.

yes that is the stock shock mount on the bottom.

here is a link to jegs for the shocks and then the coils.

What lb. springs did you use? The 250, 350 or 450?

They look great! Nice job.

thanks for the compliments. the pics make the frame and stuff look horrible. oh well.... frame off resto is after I get everything the way I want it.
I asked some people about the weight of spring to get and I couldn't get an answer from anyone, so I went with the 350# spring to start with.
I couldn't tell you yet if it is going to work or not. use your best judgement. :D maybe if I keep working on it steady I will know in a few months...

did you use the pn 122-ALN3855P ? 9" collapsed? that looks pretty sweet. I have been resisting going to coil over for a long time since my stock torsion bar setup works so well. but now I want to go to a big tube header and I dont really want to have custom fenderwells exit headers made so I think I may just convert to coilovers soon.

I used the one that requires 7" springs.
I am having a buddy from work stop by tonight and finish the welding in of the mounts, so I can re-attatch the spindles and get ready for the rotors tomorrow.
more pictures soon!

Hey man , thats a pretty awesome setup. I was wondering if you could give me all the details on how you got that on there because my luv is down to the frame and thats one of the first things i want to do to it. I dont think those stock shocks are gonna hold up a 350 very well. If you could give me all the details i would much appreciate it. THANKS

Is there a reason you mounted them upside down? Clearance issue? Ease of adjusting the spring?

yes I wanted ease of adjustment for the shocks. with the A arms in place you can get to them for adjustment really easy!

luv-in-it....All I did was cut the torsion bars out and weld in the top mounts I burned out on the CNC machine at work. they are 3/16 thick.
the shock fits like a glove!

unknown about the ride yet as I am in the middle of a V8 swap.
hopefully it will be going soon though. I keep running into problems with the vega 5 lug conversion though......ugh....
