Just to be clear, the clutch pedal depress safety switch is the two black with white stripe wires, and on my 79 there are two just alike. Might be another floating around, or the white may have gone yellow on one of them. I can't remember what black w/yellow is for, but the wiring diagram in the info section of the site should have. Anyhow, if they are not connected together, the starter will not crank. There should have been two switches on the pedal bracket by the clutch, one for clutch safety, the other part of the coasting richer system. I forget which is which. Probably got remove for the welding part. If they are both closed with the pedal in, it won't matter which one is which. If one is closed with the pedal up, that would not be the clutch safety one. I believe one has blade connectors and the other has round connectors though.
Just an FYI, I think this safety feature appeared in 78. Niether of my 77s have it, nor the 76s I've had. All the 79s I've had have it in there. Since so much else changed in 78 (and I've never had one) I'm assuming this bit came with the rest of the changes. I have it wired to a toggle switch, keeps people from borrowing my truck without asking.
