Classic example of erroneous information in published repair manuals, probably due in part to errors in translating the design information from Japanese to English, in part due to poor editing.
FYI it happens in the Factory Service Manuals also. After obtaining my Trooper FSM I noticed that alldata.com listed updates, so I spent the $25 for a year's subscription, sure enough there were at least 15 instances of wrong information/misprints scattered throughout the FSM. I made corrections in red ink on some, printed the corrections & inserted them for others.
The lesson I learned was to check more than one source- I have the FSM, Chilton's & Haynes manuals for every vehicle I own, each has it's advantages & disadvantages, but I consult all three before any project.
