i went through about 12 pages and gave up
so my question is will a 75/76 engine fit or work in my 79 ?
found one but i dont know alot about the luvs so please any help would be great !

A 76 and up motor will. The 72-75 motors are different.

'76 & later engines have the intake on the passenger side, exhaust on the driver side.
'75 & older engines have both the intake & exhaust on the same side, I think passenger.

75 and older have intake and exhaust both on the driver side (in the US anyway) or on the left side of the truck if you are sitting in the cab. The valve covers look quite a bit different too, black painted sheet metal is 76 and newer, unpainted cast aluminum is 75 and older. I bet if you look in the gallery on the main luvtruck.com site here you can probably find a 75 or older motor picture to compare.
