Guys My 75 Luv starter had a dead short. Was under warranty so I got a new one for free.New starter and still doesn't start.I know the old starter had a dead short because I could hear and see it arc.Could it be a fuse-able link? Ignition switch? Any input would be appreciated.

Will it turn over if you cross the connections with a screwdriver?

I was short on time when I posted this.I did get the solenoid to engage.I put the starter in about twenty minutes before I had to go to work. The connections are tight. I am going to pick up some new cable ends for the positive side...looks like the cable is pretty corroded. I will use a test light and see if I have power at the two terminals that I think are fusible links on the positive side. Any other ideas?

I will go out and use jumper cables for a chassis ground and see if it will start.

Well after cleaning the connections for the chassis at the battery it started. Damnedest thing.Usually the grounds cause the problem.
