 Post subject: Replacement speedometer

Just a quick question, does anyone on here know of a suitable replacement for a 1982 Luv diesel? Mine shows how fast I am going, but it does not run the mileage that I have traveled.

I sent you a PM about the speedometer--but then I re-read the post. That's a common problem, and there's no need to replace the speedometer for it. Just need to clean the old grease out of the odometer gears. There's a "How-to" article titled Stuck Odometer Repair that's for P'ups, but the '82 LUV is identical. It might even be pretty close for 1st-gen LUVs.

Hi Joe,
Is the speedo on a 81-81 Luv the same as the 82- Pups? Just curious?
BTW, I just posted some info on classified about making a removeable trans crossmember for 81-82s along with some modified sbc oil pans that I think might also fit Pups. Do you know if the engine compartment is the same on 81-81 Luv and Pups?

The '81 and '82 LUVs and P'ups are identical other than trim and badges.
