Hooking up the weber was simple. However I have run into a problem. The wiring from my new 2.5psi fuel pump was connected to the old positive in replace of my old fuel pump, the wiring runs into the old hitachi carburetor? I have no power to the fuel pump with the key turned on thus I am not getting fuel to the carburetor. I am doing this right now and need help fast!!! how do i hook up the old wiring harness from the old carb to the weber????
anything helps thanks!

This has nothing to do with a Weber. Who ever had your truck bypass the factory fuel pump wire and ran their own wire.

1. Do it right you need to trace a wiring diagram and fine the original wire and using a test light check for power when the ignition is on.
or
2. Use a relay to hook up you pump
or (rest of these are not a very good way to hook it up but works in a pinch)
3. The wires to the carb should be hot with key in running position and you can keep the wire hook up where it is. One wire should be your electric choke and the on the wire is for idel valve on the carb, forgot what it is called but the Weber does not have this set up.
4. Go to your fuse box and find and acc that is not being used and wire it in.
5. Hook the wire to the coil positive so you have power when the key is on for the fuel pump.

If you have a LUV that came with the factory electric fuel pump you won't have power to the pump unless the engine is actually turning over, either running or cranking. This was a safety feature to keep the electric pump from gushing fuel after an accident. The Hitachi carb had a solenoid fuel shutoff also, as well as an electric choke wire. The power circuit to a factory electric pump goes from the ignition directly to the frame rail mount pump location.

i re wired mine to run to the "power" post on my ignition so i can let it run for a few seconds before i start the truck.
its really easy to run a wire to your ignition for it, just takes a good length of wire and a eyelet wire end, i ran mine along the same path the old one followed on the passenger side frame up to the engine bay and in through the fire wall. but you could just run it under the driver side and through the firewall. , you could put it to the running post.

So from the choke to my ignition or from the fuel pump to my ignition?

both of mine are wired to my ignition. partly for simplicity and partly because i didnt have the time to track down the problem before getting it running

That may solve the problem Im having. when it starts cold, it quits right away until my 3rd or 4th time trying to start. It is quite annoying and then it will even back fire when i try to give it gas? any suggestions are appreciated thanks.

I didnt mess with the location of the fuel pump wires just ran my choke to my 12v window washer wiring for the motor. And it worked fine with the key in on position. But its a bitch to get started is this because i should trace the wire and re put it back on my powerpost?

Hatachi new does not work fine, I've own plenty of LUV trucks. The Weber works awesome. I have gotten a few LUV trucks for free due to the carb or dizzy not working properly.

pump the gas once before you turn the key and then dont touch it again. will set the idle switch or whatever u wanna call it on the carb so it will fast idle till it warms up as you dont touch the gas again and drop it off. if it dies the first time do it over mine usually starts and idles the second time in the cold. mine is always sluggish when cold and doesnt like to GO until it has warmed up but it can be driven lol

Exactly, I only wait until the operating temp has moved up into the lined area then she runs great and warms up fast.
