Good news for CA Luv owners for the 76-79. Back in 1986 Redline approach Calirfornia Air Resource Board (CARB) and had them test a kit they had for the Weber to show it would not effect emissons on the Luv.
"Redline, Inc, a distributor of Italian made Weber carburetors, has applied for exemption from the prohibitions of Vehicle Code Section 27156 for the Redline Conversion Kits No. k8602 and No. K8662 using one (1) Weber Model 32/34 DFT9 A or 32/34 DFT11 A carburetor. These Redline Caruretor Conversion Kits are designed to replace the Hitachi Carburetors found on 1972-1979 Chevrolet LUV pick-up trucks with 1.8 liter engines. "
So CA Luv owners 76-79 could buy the offy intake and put the above webers mentioned on there. The article also states there a couple of hoses you can remove. It's a long document (27 pages), but I know it's in there. lol
It sucks for the 1980 though. I don't know why Redline did not include that year.
I asked Redline about a replacment for the 1980 Luv, but the said they had no carburetors for that year that would pass smog. I also submitted the question through SmogTips.com to a smog ref. He said the Carburtetor has to have an OE on the model to pass smog.
