 Post subject: NEED CARB LINKAGE INFO

mY stock DCH-340 isn't right after a rebuild. Anybody have the ability to photograph thier (same or simular carb) linkage so I can see where to place the linkage for it all to work? The parts on the mrimary shaft are the problem. Only getting 1/6th throttle movement & sticking in open(full throttle) when opened all the way.

I don't have any pics but maybe you can pause the vid and see what your looking for in this vid. It's pt2 and it's starts off at the linkage change. Hope this helps.

I'm looking for how the parts are placed on the rods for the primary. When the arm from primary hits secondary, it only gives me 1/4 throttle total. I'm stuck? I can't find even a diagram of how it's to look properly put together. No same carb's in the bone yard to look at either. Nor anybody with stock luv's by me in north Seattle.

I did look. I guess they are in place. I think the 1/8" gasket I made for between the throttle & main body may have a partial blockage or some material come off & block something. I'm stuck? After it was rebuilt, it ran for 5 minutes then when someone turned the mix screw all out for awhile...it died and backfired. Maybe got too wet & fouled plugs? Thinking I"m back to square one darnit.

hmm... back the throttle screw out... those carbs are really tempromental, once they get adjusted wrong they run like crap. and they flood out fast if you run too much fuel. mine backfired and chugged and wanted to die, and usually did. when the throttle was adjusted too far. hope it helps.

So when trying to start my truck, it wont fire off. But I'm noticing the gas level in the window exceeding the middle point and going all the way to the top. I set the float correctly. Anybody know why this may be happening and what is it doing so I can't start the engine?

The float position is what controls the level of fuel in the bowl, hence if it is too full the float can't be set properly. Bend the float adjustment tabs until the fuel level is centered on the sight window. This may or may not allow the truck to start but at least the fuel level will be correct.

Good point on the float, but be sure it isn't sticking before you start bending the tabs. I hate that job.

That's what trips me out! I set it. Well it was exact for dry and wet. Both per the books and all carb. manuals. Trippy. Something is off. GOnna try it again, got another rebuild kit. Also, does anybody know the part/model numbers for the pertronix point converters that work for the 1980 chevy luv stock set-up? I went to Shucks/O'Rilley's and they gave me one that I'm sure isn't going to work. It say's for 8cyl. on the box. Part# 1181. Damn!
