i just pulled the motor out of my truck. im going to go all new gaskets and bearings. what do i use to clean the engine with and what paint works best?

Easy off oven cleaner and the local car wash works well. Just be sure to thouroughly dry the cylinders so they don't rust adter you're done. I use most any rattlecan engine paint with good results.

I just finished this one today for a customer and used regular hi temp semi gloss on the block and timing cover and flat black on the valve cover

on this one I used hi temp black for the block , silver flake for the aluminium parts and a 2 part (siver base , red top coat) for the valve cover.... the silver and red where not hi temp and have held up fine over the last 2 ot 3 years...

I know this is a old posting but Cat.... how did you get the aluminium that clean on the motor you did for your customer? Yes I read about the oven cleaner but have heard many negatives on the effects of alumium.

VHT engine paint is the best I have seen but make sure it is clean!
