long story short i am putting the luv truck back together stock and just ditching the v8 attempts for now (lack of funds)

anyway the stock engine and trans im picking up here in a week or two has the emissions stuff deleted .. which is fine for Missouri, but not CA.

what all do i need to do to get it to pass cali smog, short of putting the smog pump back on and keeping the egr. will i have to install a cat on a truck that never came equipped with a cat?

any and all advice/tips would be appreciated so that i can get the truck plated when the time comes in California

Kyle

You have to have all the emissions equipment that came with the truck originally. That includes the stock carb, Weber won't pass. CA is the toughest state for smog. No, you won't have to add a catalytic if the truck didn't come with one originally. Everybody has to have all the equipment, but some years are not subject to inspections.

Technically the Offy would require an Executive Order (EO) number from the California Air Resources Board (CARB). That said it may depend on the inspector you see, whether or not he notices it's a different brand and if it still has the emissions fittings you may be in better shape.

Not a Cali guy, but I do not think a non Cali car-truck is legal unless you get a ???? referee to give it a exemption.
luvv8 should be able to let you know about this, not that the other guys do not know. If he does not reply, send him a pm

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

There are basically two sets of smog setups.
Vehicles that were delivered in ca usually had more smog systems on them.
The other 49 states used Federal regs which were somewhat more lax.
If you have a federal vehicle, should be a sticker under the hood, if its still there.
When bringing in a fed vehicle ca usually only requires the smog as required by fed rules.
Some vehicles had the same smog, fed and ca.
Determine where the vehicle was first sold and what smog you'll need.

Then check and see what smog was originally on it. Ca should not require any additional equipment.
