12 bolts are expesive due to being sought out by collectors with Camaro's plus you have to get it narrowed. 9" is more common if your going to narrow one down and more parts can be found used if your looking to save money. Rear disc brakes are cheaper due to Ford Motorsports Explorer brake package, suggested Retail:$359.00 link> http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/pa ... ield=11789
The Ford 8.8 Mustang is very similar to 12 bolt and have heard of guys shortining and using that rear end in swaps, if you find an Explorer it's got the disc brakes on it all ready.

One of my V8 LUV's has a Toyota rearend. I'm swapping it out for a 9" and using the rear end on a regular Toyota pick up.

BTW this is from another forum-
Description:
Disc Brake Kit, Rear, Vented Rotors, Single Piston Calipers.

"You can stop shopping around for a rear disc brake kit for your late Ford's axle. These 5-lug rear truck axle conversion kits have everything you need--11 in. rotors with 5-hole 4.5 in. diameter bolt patterns, calipers, mounting brackets to fit Ford 8.8 in. truck/9 in. late Ford axles, big 3.15 in. bearings, and attaching hardware. Best of all, they're affordable, giving you unlimited braking performance on a limited budget!"

DOES NOT FIT MUSTANG 8.8" REAR END

isuzu 12 bolts are 4.11 4.30 4.55 and 4.77 gears.
easy to find LSD for the 12

the 10 bolts came with 3.42 3.73 4.11 and 4.55
very hard to find LSD

how hot is the V-8 HP :?: if its just say 275 hp and smaller tires, the 10 bolt will work fine.

the 4.77, 3.42 and the 12 bolt 4.11, are the hardest to find.

Didn't know Izusu had a 12 bolt. Does it compare to an older chevy 12 bolt?

its about = to a ford 9"

there disc brakes to :P
the 88 up troopers all have them.
1992 up troopers are not leaf springs, there colel springs.

any isuzu truck or SUV with a 2.6L or bigger engine has a 12 bolt, any isuzu 2.3L or smaller has a 10 bolt.

OH one odd ball :x
rodeos are a dana 44 on the rear.

Are you sure about the isuzu 12 being= to a 9" ford ? I got one in a 91 pup sitting in the field behind the shop and I'm fixing too put a full size 9" under my 4x4 Luv that will be putting out 600hp+ and wish the axle was narrower so you think the 12 bolt isuzu will hold to that much power. I know a few guy's that has run the Toyota rear's and they held up pretty good but as the power went up they just couldn't handle it so they all went to the 9" and never looked back.

all my info is from a retierd isuzu tec.

he's not on this site, he is on isuzupup.com
he said its very close to being as strong as a 9" ford, thats why i said about =

they sold it with the newer DI injected 3.5L V-6 engine, there 215hp or 275~ with a after market, super sharger.

400hp is fine for a 12, thats what jerry has all ways said.

if your looking at that 500/600HP or more number, id say get some thing stronger :!:

10-4 Jerry has told me the same thing but it would be nice if I could use the 12 bolt rear it would fit the truck without having a 9" narrowered, Jerry told me that the torque would kill it.

Check early 1st gen Camaro's for a 12 bolt.... Nothing is going to be perfect. They were leaf spring cars.. 10 bolt under mine.

Finding a early Camaro rear around here is like looking for hen's teeth with all the race track's around. I'm trying too find a 70's model bronco rear they are narrow and 9" and I have lot's of 5 on 5.5 rim's just don't want that wide axle in this build. With what we do the narrowed rear with the tires under the truck want work too good flying through or across a mudd bogg.

ya i would like to know as well if the trooper 12 bolt will hold up to my motor. i have a 408 ci small block chevy in my 73 luv and in all honesty its cranking out some ponies. bout 550-575 to the ground. i put 225/70/15's on it for the main voyage and when i got close to my house i flat footed it and when i hit 3rd gear the axle broke. lol. but that was with the stock rear diff welded together. i just dont want to sink a shit load of money into a diff. im a poor white man i need some advice on which direction to go. ill give some details about the truck. i have a 73 chevy luv with a 550 hp. i have a th350 trans thatis built rock solid and slams into every gear with a 3800 stall. will the isuzu 12 bolt hold that? will a 9 inch even hold that or do i need to go to like a dana 60-70??? HELP!!! PLEASE

A 9 inch will hold up fine.
