I drove the luv yesterday and it ran fine but this morning i hit the key it fired up and died as soon as i let go of the key i have worked on it all day same result never have had this problem before could it be the ign switch?

so, i'm assuming that the engine is cranking, that tells me one of two things.

one, there is a possibility that you have a loose wire either at the coil or coming from the starter.

or two, (and i had this problem) your points are welded. check them and make sure they aren't welded shut.

Alternator working? No battery charging means no fuel pump operation.

engine cranks starts right up dies like you turn the key off when key goes back to on position has good power to the coil and has good power to dist. until you turn the key loose i will check points in the morning

these switches do wear out and do some funny thing at times... try hot weiring it and see if it does the same thing or if you have a friend around with a luv swap switches and see. takes 2 min. to do,,, just an idea

I've seen your luv in so many times online and its nice to see the person it belongs to on here ... I love it!! I am almost inspired to convert mine (if only I had the money and skills to do it)
