What should I set the timing at on my 76 LUV? It has electronic ignition on it from a 80 LUV though. Not sure if that matters or not. Thanks!

In 25 years of driving Ive only had three or maybe four (not sure about a 1976 toyota corona 20R) cars with electronic ignition. Rockcharger.com tech articles how to adjust ignition timing. Those three or four cars I never had to set or adjust timing. The eighty had points.

It should be the same as the points set up. I think it's 6 or 8 btdc. Or, where it runs nice and doesn't ping.

Just checked the book, and it lists it at 6* BTDC @ 900 RPM

if you did put electronic ignition in a 76/80 it should be set at around 10* to 12* BTDC... thats the way i have set up the 3 i did and they seam to run better that way

lol, 1980 LUV's didn't come with electronic ignition, so if you go to the parts store, ask for an 1981.

Oh ok it must have been off a 81 then. I was thinking 10* so we will see how that works. It just doesnt have the power it used to. I think its because of the massive exhaust leak though lol.
