That's a sweeeeet looking ride you have there TAZMAN. I have mixed paints together before to make the outcome darker, lighter, a blended smoke and so on but I would have never thought of mixing a semi gloss with others like you did.

That is good info.. I like your truck. I like the hood scoop in the second one.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

That is a cheap universal abs plastic scoop I found on ebay for about $25. It even came complete with a built-in screen over the opening and with double stick tape to install it. I drilled and bolted mine on.

I cut a hole in that hood, and made a sheet steel plate that bolts on the underside of the hood with a connector and 90 degree tubing to go right over to the carb. Between the steel plate and the hood, I used a furnace filter I bought at the hardware store to act as an air filter to keep dust and debris out of the carb and still allow good air flow. To connect to the carb, I have a home made square metal cover with a round tube connected to it that bolts down over the carb instead of an airfilter. Metal flexible dryer hose and clamps connects the hood plate to the carb cover.

(Hey it works...lol)

I use that hood and setup in the summer - and the other hood without a scoop and my Weiand air filter for the rest of the year when it's raining. I prefer the bolt-on type of air cleaner for my weber instead of redline's usual clip-on one. I got mine for $5 used on ebay.

well I am looking into just murdering it out. My friend used industrial black on his truck and it looks great. So, to keep it simple I am going to do the same. That way when I am getting the body perf I can just re spray the repairs and it will look the same.

This is just my opinion but it almost seems to be a shame to do all the body work and prep work to just throw a flat industrial paint on it. If you are going to just rough in the body work to stop rust and then sand and paint it would probably stand up alright. The paint I mentioned from Carquest was a deep flat green but the guy waxed it and I wouldn't exactly call it shiny but it kind of had a little depth to it...maybe a "Sheen" would be a better word. Good luck either way you go. Keep us posted.

Im heading over there saturday to pull the bed off and clean the frame and prep the truck. I will eventually go with a silver or dark lexus silver. Until that time I just want it to look "good at a gallup"

I feel white is the most forgiving paint to spray on something. It actually shows less dirt the a lot of colors. It you go mudding nothing will help  Lt shows less road dust than a lot of colors. Black shows dirt more.
