So you could consider getting this fan,
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLX-1314/It's a flex fan, 14" diameter and in many ways I think is better than the stock solid fan. Just measure twice, but I measured it once and a 14" fan should fit where your old one was.
I suppose he would have offered already but when Karl parted out the 72 he might still have the fan from it. 72 and 73 fans look the same.
If you go electric fan you should go get the 50 amp alternator for AC trucks, it's like 30 bucks at Autozone and you could probably give them your 30 A one as a core. My opinion is that electric is not as reliable. But I see you're having reliability problems with your mechanical fan so...anyway.
Good luck on changing the water pump...have you read the manual to see all that is required?!! According to the manual you have to remove the timing cover and gear and a bunch of other crap. If you do it let me know how it goes.
No, I have not consulted my manual.. I was just gonna go and do it like that, and get stuck somewhere, and then consult the manual..
Im going with the electric fan for right now because my friend already has it, and I really need to get my truck going again.. its my work truck so without it im screwed..
I got the pump today in the mail so now I just need the fan. I'll probably end up getting the flex fan, i'll just have to wait on that a little, work and school are hectic right now. Dont have much time for anything now days..
Oh, I also have to change that one seal on the heads, the one closest to the windshield. The damn thing is also leaking water (God my truck is falling apart!!!!!

), for that I'll have to check the manual; as soon as I find the damn thing..
I'll start workin' on it saturday as soon as I get out of work and I'll see how far I get before I get stuck and come back over here with a bunch of questions..
