Anyone in Iowa running E-85. I assume it's readily availible down there too. The turbo guys around here are starting to get wise to it, but not a lot of N/A guys running it yet. I actually was a little concerned running 13:1 on it, but from what I read it sounded do able. I was concered on the first run but it seems to love the compression and runs cooler to boot. Near as I can tell it makes the same power as racing fuel as long as your fuel system is capable of feeding the extra 30%.
Not sure the savings is completely offset by the added cost for a fuel system, I guess it depends on how much you race. But hell as you all aready know if your gonna be different why not be completely different. Anyone can race a Nova, Camaro or F-body Mustang, but a street legal corn feed BBC LUV..............no thats different.
There is a guy I race with from Clear Lake, Iowa with a 65 Falcon using E-85. I talked to him a year ago. I think it was his first time out using it. Seemed to pick up a bit in ET. A year ago I almost went to E-85 but decided to stay with 110 gas. I heard somewhere that it is better to go to the plant instead of a gas station. Because at the station it is not always the same mixture. There was a plant here in the town I live in but it closed up earlier this year. I know the guy who was manager there and I talked to him about sponsoring me. I talked to a guy who he was sponsoring with free alcohol. He would get E-100 and then mix it with racing gas to get E-85. So I figured if I would have to buy racing gas I might as well stay with it. And you have to mix it at the plant as they can't let is go out the door as straight alcohol. BOOTLEGGING!!!
As about your comment about racing something different. Last sept I went to Denver for the ET Finals. I friend of mine that races a Pro bike was out there. On sunday we were standing there watching some racing. He said to me "All I have heard the announcer say Camaro this, Nova that, Chevelle here, but I have only heard one Luv"!!!! I told him that is why I have it, it is something different.
You should haul your Luv down here some weekend to race it at Tri-State Raceway.
www.tristateraceway.com There are a couple guys I race with that come down from Owatonna every weekend to race. And it would be awesome to have 2 Luvs racing!!!
