The 1.9 is a direct replacement, all the engine accessories & the flywheel/clutch/starter/engine plate from the 1.8 all swap. With the 2.3 or 2.6 you need to use the accessories from that style engine (including the fan & shroud), the clutch (should be the same as the LUV), starter, engine plate & flywheel from a 2.3 (not a 2.6), & the firewall has to be modified to clear the top rear mounted distributor. Plus you need motor mounts for the 2.3/2.6 & they may or may not have to be modified.

Are the engines you are referring to-- GM engines or Isuzu engines? I just picked up one of these trucks (an 81) and need to find a suitable, cheap replacement.

Well yea, when the population is 9, all 9 people have work. JK. Montana is a beautiful place. My wife might drag me up that way when we retire in 20 or so years.
By stating where you are, it will help find an eng. near you, maybe.

Well thank you, that is cool. While it is true that there are many real places up here with a population of ... nothing, lol, Billings is 100,000. Not too big by most standards, but just perfect.
