I just got a tropper with rear wheel disc brakes, a five speed manual 4wd tranny, and a 2.6.
I plan on putting all of thoese under my luv because I know that with some modifying they will all fit, my question is will the front axel fit under my luv, I would like to get the stock axel ratio for the four wheel drive, plus the auto locking hubs would be really nice.
I work as a mechanic so doing all of this isn't a problem.
I would like to know if it's possible, if there is any problems to overcome with a front diff swap.
Thanks.

What year is the Trooper?
If its a 1stGen Trooper it should be fitted with a 8bolt type pumpkin, this will fit into a Luv front housing.
Auto locking hubs are junk, swap em out for some manual locking Aisan's

Trooper track is about 4" wider than a LUV (58" & 54").
Trooper's with 2.6's ('88 & newer) have 10-bolt front diff's, 12-bolt rears, probably 4.56 ratio.
Luv tranny crossmember is in the wrong place, Trooper clutch is hydraulic. Luv brake system will need modified to use the trooper rear disc's. If also swapping the engine the fire wall will need modified for dizzy clearance, 2.6 fan is offset, Luv is centered.

That all doesn't seem too bad, I've been tracking down some high quality parts for the engine.
I have found forged rods for $550, a crankshaft, topline bearings, I've found chrome piston rings for the set of pistons, I'm currently looking for chrome plated cylinder liners.
I'm finding that the balance shaft might be the weakest link in the engine(beside swapping for a after market head cast), I've seen a lot of 2.6's with either a loose head bolt between cylinder 2 and 3, or a balance shaft that is rattling around.
A fluid filled harmonic balancer will be a great add on.

Chrome rings bad idea
Chrome cylinders worse idea
Fluid dampner can and will kill the crank in cold weather
Moly rings best idea
Eliminating the balance shaft good idea may take work.

88/91 troopers with somthing other than 4.55 are very very very few.
as in less of them then there are T\D troopers
in 89 there was a ((short two door model)) called a RS
that had 4.77 gears
this gear set was never sold in the usa, for the older 10 rear 8 frunt axils
