I got another arrival my Aerospace Components brake kit WOW! It is so beautiful I am afraid to scratch the parts or even put it on the truck haha! Quality workmanship! I am very happy can't wait to bolt them up when I am ready to.

I do however need to run a different master cylinder with at least 1" bore I seen a booster with master for about $150 but I am about tapped out cash. I may only be able to settle for a master cylinder???

They are a pretty awesome piece. When I got mine for my truck I had to get rid of my solid Centerline wheels and get some Weld Prostars so I could show of the brakes!! Aerospace has a master cylinder the is proportioned front and rear. So you don't need a proportioning valve. Can't remember for sure but I think it was around $100?? Have fun installing your new brakes. It is very easy.

yeah for now I can only hide them behind these wheel disc hubcaps cause I can only afford to keep my white mojock wheels I have till later

hmmm a proportioned master cylinder sounds good! can you use a stock chevy luv booster assembly with this master cylinder? probably not cause its 7/8" piston

not sure about using the stock booster?? my truck doesn't have the stock firewall and nothing in the brake system is stock. my truck had 2 airheart master cylinders when i got it, so when i got the aerospace front brakes i decided to go with there master cylinder too. here is what it looks like.

well ok I now have a garage I can use to work on my luv :) only I cannot keep it in there the whole time after I am done need to bring it back out

I am going to pull the engine but I need to build a cradle with some pneumatic tires something simple that I can store outside for a few.

that way I can do all my work on the front without fighting it being in my way

after that

I think I will go in this order

install rack steering
install/mod for QA1 coilovers and remove torsion bars after
install brakes
clean up motor mounts and any spots on front frame
modify firewall
work on the tilt front
shifter adjustment

there will be more for sure but I will concentrate on this for now!

ok so me and my dad talked as we stood by the luv and he has some good ideas to cut time but not corners so he has been helping me lately. I think the new parts I bought and the ideas of mine made him want to be involved haha! so cool Thanks Dad

tomorrow I am pulling the engine and transmission I got everything ready today just need to lift out tomorrow hopefully that goes well!

and I have found some bugs while disassembling

the carb kit is going to pay off as gasket was toast and probably needs to be jetted

my shifter is fine just the cable is binding for some reason hmmm?

couple spark plugs look funky

throttle cable was binding as well weird cause I was able to drive it on the freeway

more bugs to find :)

so we got the engine out we had the use of a forklift that made life easy

so once we got tranny and engine tarped for oregon weather we sprayed super clean on the front frame and began looking at it and we cut out the engine mounts they will not work with my rack and pinion

transmission mount will need work

wow! time really flies by when working on the truck (sawzall time) I cut out the middle section of the firewall went to town on it recessing it for the distributor clearance mainly and the fact it looked ugly being beat with a 5lb sledge im sure was used. well I brought out the torch anvil and small little ball peen hammer and formed it.

took forever but will look nice. just need to finish tomorrow welding it in I ll try to have some pics of it up for you all!

ok well I have put a tiny dent in the stuff to be done list.

rack & pinion
coil over suspension (torsions gone)
firewall recessed (ball and peen, anvil and torch)

it may not look purty right now I have not done the grinding and beautifications :econfused if thats a word I will do that all near the end of the work on front end

the firewall will require a little bondo and there is some welding left on it to make it look smooth and keep it structural.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
next is the tilt front

I want to get it done cause I thought I would have had it done about two months ago oops!
anyways I have 90% of the parts I just need some 5/16" round stock for fender bracing

ok so with the layoff i took a break from the truck but still have and I will begin working on this weekend or next. good weather is kicking in so..... but I abandoned the full tilt on the truck for now will later do that. I have some work ahead of me mainly cleaning up the frame work doing some more welding and such. than some body work I bought some dura glass woo hoo!

I think i can fit the aerospace brakes with a 15in wheel if the offset is right I mean they are 12" brakes but I will just have to see???? also going to use the stock master cylinder see how it works its a 7/8 bore it says 1" recommended but if i dont feel its satisfactory than i will get the 1" w booster

so yeah the list i have seems easy but im sure its gonna have some bumps

I have got most of the hard work completed though so :)

well wish me luck

I ll get on the college comp and get some more pics soon

oh and if anyone see something they can help me with much appreciated

alright fellas

late
