I have found some really good information on this site. I just bought a '79 4x4. It was on Craiglist. It was parked for 5 years tires flat and not running. Pulled it out of the mud. So far I have got it to run and taken around the block a few times. Bad fuel pump, bad relay, but fixed now.

Today when I drove around the block, I spotted another 79 or 80 4x4 luv parked in a yard full of brush and does not look like it has moved for awhile.

My truck is missing the emmisions parts Air Pump, etc, not sure if this is a real big deal, any advice?

My dad had a new 80 luv when I was young.

If anyone in Billings, MT has a LUV and can help I would appreciate it.

Welcome. You only need the smog pump and other parts if your state, county, city require you to pass smog checks.

Thanks. The more I drive it and get the carbon blown out the better she runs.

Running out the old gas helps. There is stuff you can put in the tank to help the old gas run better. I don't remember the name. It helped with a lawn mower that sat up. Check with your auto parts store.

I'll give it a shot. I think it's just the carb. One day it runs good, next day exhaust backfires. Mostly stalls when comming to stop when it is running bad. Thinking EGR rplacement. I replaced all the vacuum lines and checked the timing.

Thats it... It just doesn't seem like a name for something that does that...

They are not kidding when they say it smokes. We'll see how it does. Just got new rubber on her and going to drive it to work tomorrow.
