My 96 s10 just had a fire that ruined most of the truck besides the engine. I just got a 78 LUV 2wd with a perfect body and no engine for free. I was just curious if the LUV frame was very strong?? I will be running a 12 point cage to help stiffness. The engine is a 377 chev with hendricks sb2.2 heads Fast XFI and a Precision Turbo 106mm turbo. The previous truck it was in wheel dyno'ed at 1435hp on alky is the LUV frame strong enough to take that kinda power? Also the six lug front has to go. I still have Weld alumastar 2.0's from the s-10 I would like to run on the front. I have read a little about Aerospace components 5 lug conversion have any of you tried this setup?? And if so is it a good setup? And any info on the front coil over conversion would be very helpful. Thanks for any info.

A recent Aerospace thread:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=15387&hilit=aerospace+kit

One of several coil over threads:

I've no idea what the frame can handle, but you are in good company here on the site. There are several seriously high HP trucks and owners here.

Welcome!

The LUV frame is stronger. It is fully boxed whereas the S10 is not. It also has a few more crossmembers so it is also stiffer.

Very helpful stuff guys thanks. My engine is sittin on the plates and down in the frame as of last nite. I will try and get some pics of this project up as soon as I get the new headers fabbed and try to find a place to sqeeze this turbo in. There isnt quite as much room as an s-10 under the hood. Has anyone tried a radiator mounted in the bed??

I was thinkin the bed would be a good place for the radiator so I can hang the turbo in place of the stock radiator.

Nice. I hope my shogun water pump can move the coolant that far without any probs. Mounting in the bed also gives room for a large radiator

turboluv the aerospace is a good setup i use it on mine and have no problems other than the stock luv master cylinder not having enough pressure without pumping a time or two, it's a very easy and straight forward install. i had a thread on here some where that showed all that came with the front and back kit, the name of the place was autofab racecars i think in maryland but google it and it should pop up. anything else you need just holler.

I had planned on using the chrysler master cylinder from the s 10. I had wilwoods on the rear and aerospace on the front and with manual brakes it would put ya through the winshield at normal driving speeds. the turbo is goin to fit perfect in place of the radiator so fabin up the headers wont be as bad as the s 10 was. I ordered a 12pt cage kit from jegs today so hopefully this thing will be ready for the street before long
