i drove my truck today , ran around town a little then went outside town and opened it up , little truck pulls really hard , but when you let off it its like it floods out it was a b--ch to get it started , ive only got about 5-6 lbs of fuel pressure going to it right now, and when i got home i checked the oil and it smells like gas , any suggestions on where to start first , and 5-6lbs shouldnt be too much should it , i was thinking i was gonna have to run way more fuel pressure than that .oh yeah i am using an edelbrock carb , any suggestion would be great thanks in advance joe :?

i don't know much about fuel pressure but i do know alot about blown head gaskets! hopefully this is not your case huh? i would take an educated guess and say that your pressure is to high! or just adjust your carb a little better!

This is what I would guess. Or a piece of crap stuck in the needle and seat. I would guess the fuel pressure is fine. I run about 7 lbs of fuel pressure in my race truck. Is the choke plate opened all the way?? If you got gas in the oil, it pretty much has to be a carb. problem.

Or it could be the fuel pump leaking into the pan. But it would have nothing to do with it flooding out at WOT.

if the float was sticking wouldnt it load up all the time , and as for the needle and seat , the truck runs great idles good runs around town good its just when you really lay into it that it does this , all i know is ive got to figure it out it costs me around $40 everytime i change the oil , and that will get old quick, as ive changed it once after brake in and once already over this issue , i wish there was a chassis dyno locally i would just take it to them and let them figure it out , but then i wouldnt learn anything , thanks for the input joe ( anybody good at rebuilding holley carbs)

I run a Holley 1050 Dominator double pumper on my race truck. They are very easy to rebuild.

My personal preference is to run a Predator carb, that said, Holley is my next choice. They are easy to rebuild also.

New gaskets should take care of the gas leak. A few years ago I let a buddy use my Holley on his Dodge race car. Made a big difference and even picked up a few tenths!! He didn't even change the jetting. Just bolted it on his car and went to the track.

you can look up the numbers on the holley to see what it is,and just throw a gasket set at it.I like to run one with mechanical secondarys but that's just me.When i first did my v-8 swap i ran a 750cfm and it worked great.
