I took some measurements and some pics (I will post them later).

The length from the ends of the tube is 6.375.
It has mounts for coil springs.
Ring gear has 45 teeth and the pinion has 18 teeth.
So thats a gear ratio of 2.5:1 (I havent heard of a 2.5 before)
The back side of the houseing has 2 dimples.

I took the ring gear off, but I need to know where to measure it, from the outer most sides of the teeth?

I also took some numbers off of it, but they dont mean much to me.
G7AW E 57
8A20

Anything else I should measure or look at?

is this a Ford 9 you're refering to? If so sounds like you have a car version, probably a 28 spline. Does it have a drain plug? Does it have disc brakes? The only way i've ever really been able to find a R&P ratio is to do it old school: make a mark, spin it, and count....fun times

I hope those pic's arnt too big for some of you.... Ill try and shrink them in a day or two..

There isnt a drain plug, but there is a filler plug on the third member about 1/4-1/2 way up on it.

Doesnt have any axles or brakes.

I dont know how to get the spider gears out from inside there, and counting the axle splines would be pretty hard to do.

i couldn't see in those pics, but does the 3rd member have an "N" on it. It would be on the outside like a casting number. Good score tho, regardless of age. The 31-spliners are what you want tho. Just finished shortening mine here the other day, LOOKED just like yours, but it had leafs, so no provisions for tracbars.

Also, almost forgot. Look on your ring gear and see if it has a FoMoCo part number on it. FoMoCo looks like the Ford symbol with and oval around it on the edge of the ring. If you can get a legible one i bet it may be a good Googler.

I found on the ring gear the Ford symble, it definatly said Ford in the circle.
After that it said SA D7AW 4Z BA 845
The Z might be a 2, it was somewhat missing.

Welp, Im in the middle of doing some research and found this site.....

http://www.kevinstang.com/Ninecase.htm

Its looking like a 9" from what I am reading, and a very good one at that.

Mine is a C6AW case with a pinion guard.

The larger pics helped. It's a 9 inch, not a nodular section though.
