It's off of an airplane - you don't see it on one do ya?

J/K..

Seriously though ...it's just a casting hole that was probably used to lift the block so they could move it around at the factory. Nuttin' to worry about.

Looks to me like your oil is coming from a long way further up.

Id say the valve cover.

You need to book it in for a good degrease.

no its not coming from the valve cover i just replaced the gasket and not even a week ago i cleaned that side of the engine :? i do think i have a bad head gasket because i have a pretty good trail of antifreeze coming down the side of the block, i pulled the exhaust to look for a crack in the block and dident see one, but i did notice some white crusty sort of build up where the head meets the block... so i guess now i just got to chase down the oil leak and replace a head gasket, i just hope i dont run into problems or find any more installing the new gasket

It's better to do it now before it over heats out in the middle of nowhere and you risk the chance of possibly warping the head. Been there - done that. :(

Besides, while you have the head off, you can clean all of the carbon/crust off of your piston tops and your valves. Plus you can clean up your exhaust and intake manifolds while they are off.

Yep im for sooner rather than later.

And it still could be the valve cover gasket leaking. It s only tin and could be warped.

Hence why i suggested to wash it. Once its clean you can spot the leak easily.
