nup you dont use the gasket for the head.

If its a 1600 or 1800 head on a 2L block you use the 2L head gasket as the boreholes need to be that big.

You wouldnt use a 2L head on an 1800 motor as the compression would be pretty low.

Well turns out it was the headgasket, even with it being brand new...

She runs now, very slow, but runs nonetheless.

Btw, instead of opening a new thread I'll just ask it in here... Would a Jeep 4.2L straight six fit in my luv?

Not without a lot of mods, since the stock transmission won't bolt up to it.

Neither will the stock driveline, so IMHO you'd be asking for a real large problem for youself just to make it all work.

Although the stock Luv engine isn't the most powerful on the block...you can do a lot of stuff to boost up your hp/torque.

Take a look at this thread: http://forums.luvtruck.com/viewtopic.php?t=10702

Nope it's way to long, thats not saying you can't put a dog house in the fire wall but it's just not practical.

 I have a 79 4X4 that i am thinking of putting a S-10 2.8 with a overdrive auto into it other then the usual motor mount fabbing all i would have to do is change the transfer case to a full size one so the front drive line will mate up.

Yeah i know that thes motors were slugs in the S-10 but the LUV is so much lighter that it would a good swap plus it wont over power the axles and would get terrific fuel milage. And there are allot of them so they are cheap.

There is a T-bird turbo coupe engine/5 speed for sale here locally. This seems like a swap that might be interesting, it seems like it should fit. I bet it would be fun in a Luv, 190 HP in stock form... :D

Impulse turbo would be a whole lot easier, about the same HP but bolts striaght in if you get the right mounts.
