Last week I got a 1976 Luv for free but I gave the guy 100 bucks since the ratchet shifter was 140, anyway.. It's a v6 3.8L out of a Buick 1979 with a 350 turbo (I don't know much else I'm just getting into cars). The only thing wrong with it was the carberator had a leak so my buddy and I swapped it with an extra one he gave us. We put in the other carberator and it started right up. It's got some decent power but my main question is how can I make this truck get as much power as possible? I have the whole summer to put all my time and a good amount of money into it. It's also pretty heavy weighing in at 5500 lbs. You guys and gals are the geniuses with these trucks so I figured I'd begin my education here! Also any tricks or tips on small things would be greatly appreciated I'm trying to learn as much as I can. Any tips or tricks would be awesome (Legal or not) i'm getting it smogged within the month and am trying to trick it out once I do so, but of course with the ability to transform it back before the next smog, thanks all!

I'm not trying to be a wise guy, but if you look closer, I believe that's in kilograms.

It would be less if it was in kilograms... I think there is about 2.1 or 2.2 pounds per kilogram... lol

I think its GVWR... I looked at the one on my truck, and it was something around that...

Killer Sloth, 1 lb = 2.2 kilos, approximately, so 1000 lbs = 2200 kilos. So it actually would be more.

Most of these trucks weigh in at anywhere from 2600 to 2900 pounds. If you have a 3.8 V6, those engines will run good. I would find out what factory specs are on the carb and start from there. It doesn't take much to mess up the way it runs when you just slap on another carb that is set up for a different engine. They aren't that hard to rebuild.

yeah it's 5500 MSVP or some 4 syllabel tag so it probably weighs 2500-3000. I want this thing to haul ass! I just put new spark plugs in it then im getting it smogged this week hopefully then make it smog-illegal and trick it out! suggestions on what to do? it's all stock v6 3.8L and that's it, i think a 350turbo whatever that is

ummm actually it's one kilo equals 2.2 pounds. Have to figure that everyday to give medical doses.
