Mine had an ocaisonal dieseling issue, I was playing with the carb one day and figured out what I guess is the fast idle compensator(for A/C?) would prevent the throttle linkage from returning to it's bottom or original position after throttling up and releasing the accelerator, leaving the engine idling @ about 1900 rpm's. Short of removing the thing all together, I realized that, right before I shut the engine off I could "jab" the accelerator pedal just a bit as it was idling fast and watch the tach, rpm's dropped back to 900-1000, then I could shutdown without dieseling. was glad to figure this out as it also seemed to be the cause of the truck burning up 3 sets of points in 2 weeks time. Plus, no more funny looks from passersby in the parking lot
