I just want some boost in the Luv, does this head bold on allowing for all the rest of the intake toys to bold on as well?

Any ideas for the easiest turbo option? I have a poll, let's see where it goes.

i voted for the turbo toyota engine.

as much as i like these isuzu engines, parts for them are few and far between.

with the toyota, you have a cult following for parts. so if you blow it up from puttin 30lbs of boost on it, you can just order some more parts!

I agree, if you want boost, go for the Toyota 22RET

well the RET wasnt anything special. just a RE with a turbo pushin like 3lbs of boost and a different fuel map in the ecm.

ive never really seen a following for boosting 22r's though. mostly just all motor stuff. i dont have a clue as to who makes a turbo manifold for the 22r.

Actually the RET had a stronger bottom end then the RE did...and lower comp too (not by much but enough) there are a few company's out the that make turbo manifolds for the 22RE..the one that comes to mind first is LC Engineering in Lake Havasu,AZ they are by far the foremost on anything having to do with Yota's (engine wise that is) also once you've figured out what the heck you want to do (and are going with a 22RE setup) I'd contact engbldr (guy's user name) over on 4x4wire...the guy has been building these engines for a loooooong time and knows how to get the most out of them while keeping them bulletproof...he also sells internal parts for them too

hope that helps yeah....oh and personally if I had the cash and time to pull it off I'd be sticking a Toyota 3RZ in along with a R150/151 tranny

Thanks for getting on the poll.

I think you're right about the 22re, although the 22ret is just as tough to find. LC engineering isn't cheap.

After all this, I've read about the 2.6 from a trooper/spacecab. If it bolts in, wow what a great deal. ECU? Hell the spacecabs and troopers are going for about 1500 around here, I wouldn't mind pulling the whole harness out.

Sorry to who ever I cut this from, I forget who posted this in here: I've been saving some things I've seen in here. I'll start taking note on who said what, but this post addresses some of the issues:

Quote:
"The first thing i know for fact is that you can go from g180(1.8l) to g200(2.0l), other options include 2.3l(4zd1) and 2.6l(4ze1), and if am not mistaken then the parts of these engines can be interchanged(head/block/manifolds), this also includes me theory on using the 2.6 EFI intake for a dual carb setup(the lower section has 2 openings that appear as if they could be modified to put dual carbs on it).

"The bellhousing pattern on the 1.8 2.0 2.3 and 2.6 are the same. There are differences between them like hydraulic and cable operated clutch setups but they can be converted easily from hydraulic to cable and vice versa.

Again, I'll note who's posting what in the future if I cut n paste.

But a g200 turbo 4z motor head (EFI, possibly turbo) on the stock g180 block seems like a sweet conversion. I would be interested in learning more about that. Hell, just a bottom end rebuild and turbo top/wiring, etc for a little extra umph...

there are 2 different Turbo motors..there was the Imp G200 and then there was the Imp 4ZC1(came in 87-89 Imps IIRC)

There is only one turbo motor, the 4ZC1 2.0L and no the head will absolutely not fit on a G180 or G200. 4Z motors use a timing belt instead of a timing chain. The intake from a 4Z should fit a G series motor with very minor mods. Fill that coolant hole between #3 and #4 intakes on the G180/200 head and the ports pretty much line up.

The 4Z motors have round exhaust ports instead of the squarish ones found on the G series motors, but the bolts will all line up put it on. Might want to do a little porting on the manifold to get it to fit right, but it will fit
