Took the truck for an alignment today and they showed me some play in the upper control arm bushing and said I needed upper ball joints . How tough is this job ? Also has anybody rebushed the arm on the passenger side , as mine has slop in it and they don't offer a full replacment .

Upper BJ's are easy. These use 4 bolts instead of the usual press fit.

The idler bushings are available. I have a part # if you need it. I don't know how hard they are to install.

Thanks , Can I just jack it up and put stands under lower arm and dis assemble or do I need t opull out the torsion bar  ? I looked at the manual I have and it looks like the upper contol arm bushings just thread in . I'm dreading the idler arm re-bush job worst of all .

by now you should have put them in.....if you haven't it is not hard.....just hope the cap on the idler arm is not cross threaded like mine was. Whoever did it last put in on that way......it was a really big vise and extension pipe on the rachet to get it off...............about the bushings. the last time i was in mine the rod thru the middle of the bushings needed to be replaced too........so plan on that too......

 Sounds like you live in a mansion and have to ride the golf cart down the hill and out to where the garage is.

LOL!

Not exactly, but the garage is separate from the apartment, so I try to make the trips count.

The one I have is a Beck Arnley part number. They appear to be the correct ones, although I haven't installed them yet.

The box has: 101-3863, then 49-14605 on one end. The skew on the side is 0 49797 15965 2.

I just had my truck 'diagnosed' and was told it needs a tie rod, all ball joints and a pitman arm. I've already ordered the ball joints, but I'm not having any luck with the tie rods. Are they still available? Anyone have part numbers for a pitman arm?

Besides lots of cussing, anything special I need to do to unload the suspension to replace the ball joints?

:?:

:?: A refresher please?

Last car I worked on with torsion bars up front was a '69 Charger with a factory slant 6...

Could one of you show me a link or a give me a quick run down of what I need to do to change the tie rods and ball joints in the LUV?

I have a manual coming, but usually experience will take hours off of a job described in the manual.

Thanks!
