Can someone clue me in as to where the FAN switch CABLE is connected in the heater assembly? Mine is just hanging there near the firewall, and the fan does not turn on. I've checked the 12V wiring and it is all good up to the input to the blower motor. Seems like the fan should work without this cable being hooked up? Maybe my problem is the blower itself...

I just won a series 10 manual on eBay, but I'd really like to make this work ASAP if possible.

Thanks!

Is the cable you speak of for the heater water valve? Is it hanging in the eng. bay, through the fire wall on the drivers side?

The cable I'm talking about is on the passenger side, and is inside the cab. It goes from the heater fan switch to somewhere behind the blower box. The lay of it suggests it's close to where it should be, but I couldn't find any sort of stud or lever for the cable loop to attach to.

This is sort of a standard 70's sliding heater cable, with a sheath and hardenend ends that are formed into a loop about the diameter of a pencil. It moves when I adjust the fan switch. My experience with these things is that the end keeper fell off at some point, and now the cable is just flopping around.

Hope that adds some clarity :)

I actually need to get mine there and working. Right now I've removed the hot/cold valve, and have one I've put together but haven't installed yet. I will later. My blower is also not working at the moment due to the fact that I took it all out to find and fix a leak, then didn't get the wires back correctly. I also am postponing that work. I will be doing it soon though, and I will let you know how it goes.

The cable you described goes on the the hot/cold valve, and regulates the flow of the coolant through the heater core.

I don't understand. I think the only thing coming from a fan switch is wires. They control the fan speeds.

The only 2 cables (like a bike brake cable) I know of would be 1 for the heat / water control, and 2 the diverter box ( controls the air flow from def., to vent, to heat.) It might be for the 2nd one I mentioned.

I know their is a wire that rans from the switch to the blower it is power to the switch . It has a bullet connector at the blower motor. I know because I tapped into it at the bullet connector to put a on\off switch in to stop the blower from running all the time the truck is running.

I took some photos, I'll post them in a bit. There are 3 CABLES coming out of the lower passenger side of my heater assembly, inside the cab. Two of them are just as described, one for heat/defrost the other for hot/cold. This last one goes...?

I've checked the wiring and get a full 12V+/- on high at the input to the blower. It still may be toast, but the slide cable and wiring don't appear to be related...

Thanks for all the responses :)
