how do i get the motor passed the axle of an 82 4x4 .i'm swapping motor &tranny to an 81 4x4. the motor is a 2.2 :evil:

To remove an diesel motor out of a 4x4 you have to start at the rear of the truck. This is needed to gain clearance to get the flywheel out of the transmission.

Remove drive shafts
Drop Transmission and Tranfercase
Pull engine.

Some have told me that it can be done by just moving the transmision and case back to gain clearance, but I have not been able to do that.

The motor will not come out with out gaining the 2-3 inches needed for the motor to split the transmission.
