Well, I am starting to work on converting my 82 4x4 Luv to veggie oil using the Elsbett kit.
My question is about my car. I've got an 83 diesel Isuzu I-mark. I changed the timing belt recently and about a month after that my car starting idling really high. Once the car warms up it idles around 2000rpm. The fast idle cable isn't pulled open and the lever on the injection pump is pressed up against the idle set screw. What else can it be?
Update: The hard starts are only the first start of the day. If I start the car once, it starts up fine for the rest of the day. It even starts fine cold as long as I've started it once before the same day. It almost seems like something settles somewhere in teh fuel system, then gels forming a plug that has to get puched out. Any clues?
I see you did not get any replies on this one. What type of fuel pump does the engine have? Is it a inline or rotor pump?
Have you already solved the problem?
