Haven't been on in awhile but been doing a few upgrades to mine lately. We have been doing more no-prep races and heads up stuff so I decided to put some thing alittle more consistant for traction. I still drive it on the street and didnt want to have to mess with a four link. The new motor will have alittle more power than the pump gas 383 that has been in it for years. So I went with a ladder bar/coil over setup. Pretty easy install and I can adjust rear ride height.

It turned out pretty good

Think this was the last time I had it out. The bars hook well with the little motor. Cant wait to put some real power to them.

I have always had the frame narrowed and the wheel tubs widened. My wheel tubs are even with the frame and will easily clear a 12.5 tire. I narrowed everything 4" on each side if I remember correctly.

Got a few more pics uploaded. I wanted to ditch the heavy drums from the 9" so I went with the summit racing cheap disk brake conversion. Probably go for the drilled and slotted rotors next time. Ended up saving about 13lbs per side.

I have always just ran a stock driveshaft so I figured I needed to upgrade. Went with 1350X u-joints and a custom 3 1/2" driveshaft. The u-joints are massive compared to what I had.

I have always foot braked, but now most classes allow a transbrake in the NO-E classes. So I got a brand new powerglide with a pro tree brake from Freakshow Performance. Micheal is a great guy and is really gaining popularity in north Texas and Oklahoma. His name will be on several cars on the 3rd season of Street Outlaws. Not to mention he has one wicked little Procharged Camaro.

On to the header build. I have never seen a set of headers for a Luv that I really liked. I wanted a BIG tube in chassis header. Most didnt even think a 2" primary header would fit. It took alittle patience and alot of beer but I really like the way they turned out.

Those headers are bad ass, I don't think that muffler is going to muffle much. 8)

Found this on the tear down of my old motor. It was still working perfectly. My truck stays in the shop so this is from the occasional rain storm while hauling it, condensation, and washing it. It will be on my regular maintenance schedule from now on.

$100 bucks and looks like brand new from MSD

on to the motor build....I ended up with a 408ci. Mostly because it was the parts I already had or could beg, borrow, or steal the rest of them. Little bit of grout, studded main and heads, eagle crank, Lunati rods, JE pistons, comp cam nitrous solid roller. Any ways here are a few pics

Image

Had some Brodix track 1s full race ported and a matched Super Vic. Ended up getting them to flow 312cfm which isnt great but not bad for a 2.08 intake valve. Portwork came out nice..

Image

sent the intake off and had it powered coated in "hammered grey" also had the headers ceramic coated in black. They came out real nice.

Image

had some trouble getting the right lenght push rods but finally ended up with +.250 120 wall Manley pushrods

Image

Long block complete

Got it in and broke in. Still a few bugs and some tuning on the wideband. Got the new hood to the paint booth. It's getting close.
