It was 6:15 a.m. on a Sunday when Tom Bellows pulled his treasured 1979 yellow MGB into the parking lot of a Woodland Hills shopping center and prepared to hang out with other classic car aficionados, as they had for years.

But instead of being greeted by longtime friends, he said, he was surrounded by four security guards hired by the owners of El Camino Shopping Center, who ordered him off the premises.

"They told me to get the blankety-blank-blank out," said Bellows, 71, a family therapist from Northridge. "They said I couldn't park my car there because it was a classic."

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

We had a similar problem like that in Cedar Rapids. So they moved to a auto parts store parking lot. They get together on thursdays and saturdays during the summer.

Some places in California have no sense of humor. This is so ridiculous in light of the fact that even the utopia that is Irvine (I used to live there, trust me they are almost as anal retentive as Calabasas) allows a "Cars and Coffee" cruise which happens early on a Saturday from like 6-9am I think. I think there might formally be a law banning "Parking lot cruises" in California, which is what that one appeared to be.

That crap happens around here too. I always ask the question in the town meetings, 'why?'. The answer i get is No Customers due to all the cars. One ass lown admitted after I grilled him on it that after the cars no longer gathered, business was down. But they were sure it would pick up with all the parking available now. He got pissed when I told him the slot i used to park in would always be available for someone to drop by, as i would NEVER be back, or allow my wife and kids to use any of the mini malls stores to spend MY money in. IF My ride ain't welcome, My money sure ain't...

I haven't heard of any of this before. We have some serious car shows and they are welcome everywhere. The only parking lot issues we have here is after hours parking by teenagers in business parking lots. Even though it doesn't bother me I guess the business owners have alot of garbage and vandalism to deal with.

Most of the local shopping centers have at least one a year... One does its own version of Hot August Nights (lol, Hot Summer Nights) every other week in the summer. Picks up business for anyone that sells BBQ type stuff and anything cold. Wouldn't purdy ol' cars in the parking lot attract attention more than the 90's POSs that usually clog the place up? lol, funny that the people were actually using the lot to do business with the shops in there.

23335 Mulholland Drive
Woodland Hills, CA 91364

There's the address. Good Luck with parking. I'll keep that address in the GPS as a no-go. Especially since that guy got harassed just trying to get a haircut. I know a few people that just moved down there. I'll let them know... I feel bad for the businesses there, but maybe they'll find a better property manager.

lol, EricLi@regencycenters.com didn't have a comment about it either...
